Ardagh Chalice

Vessel of Irish workmanship of the 9th or 10th century, found near Ardagh, now in the Irish Academy, Dublin . It is a “ministerial” chalice , with two handles, made of silver alloy, richly ornamented with gold and enamel. The inscription gives the names of the Apostles . It is probably the work of the School of Clonmacnoise.
