Auvergne, Pierre D
a French scholastic writer, lived at the close of the 13th century. He was canon of Paris, and had a great reputation as a philosopher. In 1272 the rectorate of the University of Paris being vacant, the legate of the pope chose Auvergne for the position. The time of his death is not known. He wrote Summa Qucestionum Quodlibeticarum. or PETRUS DE CROS, a French theologian and philosopher, died Sept. 25, 1307 (according to others, 1301). He became, under the guidance of Thomas Aquinas, a distinguished theologian and philosopher. He was doctor of the Sorbonne and canon of the chapter of Paris. According to Samarthanus (in Gallia Christiana), he was subsequently bishop of Clermont.
