Baale

(Hebrew: lord, owner; plural: Baale or Baalim) The chief divinity, the sun god, of the Chanaanites and the Arameans; also the name of the principal deity worshiped by certain nations or communities. The Israelites worshiped Baal in the days of King Achab or Ahab (4 Kings, 3 and 10). In some places he had a female consort named Baaloth (Greek: Beltis).

Baale

OF JUDAH (Hebrews Badley’ Yehud h’, , lords or cities of Judah; Sept. and Vulg. translate , vii Juda), a city in the tribe of Judah, from which David brought the ark into Jerusalem (2Sa 6:2). It is elsewhere called BAALAH SEE BAALAH (q.v.), and was still better known as KIRJATH-JEARIM (1Ch 13:6).
