Comprises north central Kentucky. Founded as the diocese of Bardstown, a suffragen of Baltimore, on 8 April 1808. Transferred to the diocese of Louisville on 13 February 1841 and made a suffragan of Cincinnati. Elevated to the archdiocese of Louisville on 10 December 1938. Suffragen dioceses include
