Beth-maachah
(Heb. Beyth Maakah’ [or ] , house of [the] Maachah; always with the prefix Abel or Abelah; Sept. , or v. r. , etc.), a place named in 2Sa 20:14-15, and there occurring more as a definition of the position of ABEL than for itself; more fully called ABEL-BETH-MAACHAH SEE ABEL-BETH-MAACHAH
(q.v.) in 2Ki 15:29. In the absence of more information, we can only conclude that it is identical with MAACHAH, or ARAM-MAACHAH, one of the petty Syrian kingdoms in the north of Palestine. SEE ARAM.
