Also written Calixtus II. Son of Count William of Burgundy. Reigned from 1119 to 1124 . Born in Quingey, France as Gumo; died Rome, Italy . He was a Benedictine , Archbishop of Vienne, and cardinal . As pope he disciplined the French clergy , decreed against investiture , simony, and concubinage of the clergy . The question of investiture between him and Emporer Henry V was settled by the Concordat of Worms, 1122 , and confirmed by the First Lateran Council, 1123 . He regained a portion of the diminished Patrimony of Saint Peter , and beautified Rome.
