Is the modern name for the logical rule known also as Occam’s Razor. Its original formula wasEntia non sunt multilicanda praeter necessitatem, i.e. of two or more explanations, which are of equal value otherwise, the one which uses the fewest principles, or suppositions, is true, or at least scientifically preferable. — V.J.B.
