Enon
Enon, or non (‘non), springs. A place near Salim where John was baptizing. Joh 3:23. Three sites have been proposed for it: 1. The traditional one, by Jerome, about 8 miles south of Beisan; not confirmed by later authorities. 2. In Wady Frah, 5 miles northeast of Jerusalem. 3. The more probable site is east of Nabls, near the village Slim, where there are copious springs.

Enon
E’non. (springs). A place “near to Salim,” at which John baptized. Joh 3:23. It was evidently west of the Jordan, compare Joh 3:22 with Joh 3:26 and with Joh 1:28, and abounded in water. This is indicated by the name, which is merely a Greek version of a Chaldee word signifying “springs”. Aenon is given in the Onomasticon as eight miles south of Scythopolis, “near Salem and the Jordan.”
