Ferns, Ireland, diocese of
Comprises nearly all of Wexford and part of Wicklow counties; founded by Saint Aedan, 598 ; suffragan of Dublin . His early successors included Saint Mochua, Saint Moling, and Saint Cillene, Bishop O’Lyman (died 1062 ), Ailbe O’Molloy (1185 -1222 ), and Bishop Saint John, who rebuilt the ancient cathedral , now in ruins. Ruins of early priories and abbeys may be seen in the diocese . See also:
