Geulincx, Arnold
(1625-1669) Was born in Antwerpen but later, when he became a Protestant, he mined to Holland. His work lay along Cartesian lines, but he felt dissatisfied with Descartes’ solution of the mind-body problem. As a result, he developed the doctrine of occasionalism according to which interaction between mind and body is impossible, but God effects bodily motions “on occasion” of each mentnl process.
