(1 July 1646 – 14 November 1716) Christian mathematician . Credited with inventing differential and integral calculus. Inaugurated the notation of the new calculus. Drew up correct rules for differentiation of sums. First made use of variable parameters. Constructed a triangulum characteristicum. Wrote several valuable treatises on higher mathematics.
