Halak, The Mount
“the smooth mountain”, “which goeth up to Seir” (Jos 11:17; Jos 12:7); the southern extremity of Joshua’s conquests. Keil identifies it with the chalk cliffs crossing the valley of the Ghor, six miles S. of the Dead Sea; the southern limit of the Ghor, the northern limit of the Arabah.
