Title applied in Asia Minor and among the Greeks, to the superior of a coenobium or conventual monastery . He must be a priest-monk, elected by the members of the community, and confirmed by the bishop of the diocese . His assistants are two counselors, elected by the congregation from among the monks who have been professed not less than six years.
