Field of heroes, a place near Gibeon, so named from a fatal duel- like combat, preceding a battle between the armies of David and Ish- bosheth, 2Sa 2:16 .

Name, signifying, as in the margin , ‘field of strong men,’ given to the place where twelve men of Israel and twelve of Judah killed each other, which led to a very sore battle. 2Sa 2:16. Identified by some with Wady el Askar, 31 52′ N, 35 11′ E.
