(Heb. Chammath’, , the same name as Hammath; Sept. ; Vulg. translates calor), a Kenite, ancestor of the Rechabites (1Ch 2:55). B.C. prob. cir. 1612. Hemath, in Amo 6:14, is an incorrect Anglicized form of (Chamath’, Sept. v.r. , Vulg. Enath), the city HAMATH SEE HAMATH q.v.
