(1) The Assyrian Captivity , when the inhabitants of the Northern Kingdom were carried off to Assyria (4 Kings 15; 17)

(2) The Babylonian Captivity , when the subjects of the Kingdom of Juda were deported to Babylon (4 Kings 24; 25).

(3) The Roman Captivity, when Titus destroyed Jerusalem in A.D. 70 and scattered the Jews over all the provinces of the Roman Empire (Josephus, “Wars of the Jews,” VI, 9, 2).
