(1821 -1901 ) Fourth Duke de Broglie. Great-nephew of Maurice Jean de Broglie , academician, born Paris; died there. His history of the Church and the Roman Empire in the 4th century , and his works on Louis XV’s diplomacy have placed him in the first rank of historians.
