Jahdai
Jahdai
(Heb. Yahday’, , prob. grasper; Sept. v), a descendant apparently of Caleb, of the family of Hezron; his sons’ names are given, but, as his own parentage is not stated (1Ch 2:47), it can only be conjectured that lie was the son of the preceding Gazez, the son (different from the brother) of Haran (1Ch 2:46). B.C. prob. post 1612. Various other suggestions regarding the name have been made, as that Gazez, the name preceding, should be Jahdai (Houbigant, ad loc.); that Jahdai was a concubine of Caleb (Grunenberg quoted by Michaelis, Adnof. ad loc.), etc.; but these are mere groundless suppositions (see Burrington, 1, 216; Bertheau, Comment. ad loc.).

Jahdai
jada-, jad (, yahday, Yah leads (?); Baer reads , yehday): In 1Ch 2:47, where six sons of Jahdai are mentioned. The name has been taken as that of another wife or concubine of Caleb; more probably Jahdai is a descendant of Caleb, whose name, in the original connection, has fallen from the text (Curtis, Chronicles, 96).
