Jeshishai
An ancestor of the Gadites dwelling in Gilead and reckoned by genealogies in Jotham’s days (1Ch 5:14; 1Ch 5:17). A part of the transjordanic tribes came temporarily under his dominion in the period of disorder in Israel after the death of Jeroboam II This caused his registration of the Gadites. Pekah in Ahaz’s reign, probably by the Syrian Rezin’s help, recovered Gilead.
