Kedemah

One of the sons of Ishmael: he was the last of the twelve princes which the Lord promised to give to Ishmael. (See Abraham’s prayer, and the Lord’s answer, Gen 17:18-20 compared with Gen 25:13-16) The name of Kademah, it should seem, is taken from Kedem, or the east. And in confirmation of it, it is remarkable that the account given of the journeying after the flood is expressed by this term, “they journeyed from Kadem,” or as the margin of the Bible renders it, “they journeyed eastward.” (Gen 11:2)
