Lamennais, R.
(1782-1854) Leader of a Platonic-Christian movement in the Catholic clergy of France. He advanced the idea of “inspired mankind.” He attacked the eighteenth century for its principles and its method. In finding dissolution and destruction as its aftermath, he advocated a return to the Catholic Church as the solution.
