In Jer 46:9; Eze 30:5; Eze 38:5, the words are replaced in the Revised Version (British and American) by PUT (which see). In the New Testament the word Libya (, Libue) occurs, in close connection with CYRENE (which see) (Act 2:10). Greek and Roman writers apply the term to the African continent, generally excluding Egypt. See LUBIM.
