(Lu Chiu-yiian, Lu Tzu-ching, 1139-1192) Questioned Ch’eng I-ch’uan’s interpretation of Confucianism when very young, later often argued with Chu Hsi, and claimed that “the six (Confucian) classics are my footnotes.” This official-scholar served as transition from the Reason School (li hsueh) of Neo-Confucianism to the Mind School (hsin hsueh) of Neo-Confucianism. His complete works, Lu Hsiang-shan Ch’uan-chi, number 36 chuans in four volumes. — W.T.C.
