Mardochaeus
(). the Sept. or Greek equivalent of MORDECAI SEE MORDECAI (q.v.), in the Apocrypha; namely,
(a.) the uncle of Esther, in the apocryphal additions (Esther 10:1; 11:2, 12; 12:1-6; 16:13; 2Ma 15:36). The 14th of the month Adar, on which the feast of Purim was celebrated, is called in the last passage Mardochaeus’s day ( ).
(b.) A Jew who returned with Zerubbabel and Joshua (1Es 5:8; comp. Ezr 2:2).
