Massah

(Heb. Massah’, , trial, as often; Sept. , ; Vulg. tentatio), a name given to the spot in Rephidim where the Israelites provoked Jehovah by murmuring for want of water; otherwise called MERIBAH (Exo 17:7; Deu 6:16; Deu 9:22; Deu 28:8). The name also occurs (in the Heb.), with mention of the circumstances which occasioned it, in Psa 95:8-9, and its Greek equivalent in Heb 3:8.
