Mount Of The Amalekites
( ; Sept. ; Vulg. Mons Amalech), a place near Pirathon, in the tribe of Ephraim (Jdg 12:15), apparently so called from some branch of that Canaanitish clan settled there (comp. Jdg 5:14, , from Ephraim [came those] whose seat [was] by Amalek, A.V. “out of Ephraim was there a root of them against Amalek”). SEE AMALEKITE.

(hill-country of the Amalekites Jdg 12:15): The Amalekites are usually connected with the valley Num 14:25; Jdg 7:12, but appear from this passage to have had a settlement in the hill country of Ephraim. See AMALEKITES.
