Necrothaptae

(Gr. , dead, and , to bury) is one of tile names by which the ancient Greeks called the undertakers at funerals. Among the Romans they were called Libitinarii, from the goddess Libitina, who presided over funerals (Livy, 40, c. 19; Plutarch, Quaest. Roman.).
