(Heb. Pagiel’, , chance or event of God; Sept. , Num 1:13; elsewhere ), son of Ocran, and chief man of the tribe of Asher at the time of the Exode, appointed with others to command in war (Num 1:13; Num 2:27; Num 7:72; Num 7:77; Num 10:26). B.C. 1658.

pagi-el, paji-el, pa-gel (, pagh’el, God’s intervention): Son of Ocran, of the tribe of Asher, among those enrolled by Moses at the numbering of Israel (Num 1:13; Num 2:27). When the tabernacle was set up, the heads of the families of Israel brought their offerings in rotation, and Pagiel, as prince of his tribe, came on the 11th day (Num 7:72). Num 7:72-77 describes his offering. In the journeyings of Israel he was over the host of the tribe of the children of Asher (Num 10:26), and possibly standard-bearer (compare Num 10:14, Num 10:22, Num 10:25).
