Philosophical Psychology

Philosophical psychology, in contrast to scientific or empirical psychology, is concerned with the more speculative and controversial issues relating to mind and consciousness which, though arising in the context of scientific psychology, have metaphysical and epistemological ramifications. The principal topics of philosophical psychology are

the criteria of mentality (see Mental),

the relation between mind and consciousness (see Consciousness),

the existence of unconscious or subconscious mind (see Unconscious mind),

the structure of the mind (see Mind-stuff Theory, Gestalt Psychology),

the genesis of mind (see Mind-Dust, Emergent Mentalism),
