Rabbith

Rabbith

(Heb. Rabbith’ [always with the art.], multitude; Sept. v. r. ), a city in the tribe of Issachar (Jos 19:20). Schwarz (Palest. p. 166) found a village, Arubuni, three English miles west of Beth- shean, which he is disposed to identify with the Rebbo of Jerome, and the Rabbith of Joshua. But this is beyond the bounds of Issachar. Probably the locality in question is in the north-east part of the tribe, possibly at the ruins Sumurieh (? Samaria).

Rabbith (2)

Tristram (Bible Places, page 237) thinks this may be the modern Arrabeh, which, however, does not lie “in the plain” of Esdraelon, but about two miles southwest of Dothan; while Lieut. Conder suggests (Memoirs accompanying the Ordnance Survey, 2:228) Rdba, a Small stone village lying about nine miles southwest of Beisan, and therefore entirely beyond the boundaries of Issachar.
