Sherwin, Ralph, Saint

Martyr . Born in 1550 at Rodsley, England ; died in 1881 at Tyburn, England . He was admitted Fellow of Exeter College, Oxford in 1568 . In 1575 he fled abroad, and was ordained at Douai in 1577 . Arrested in London in 1580 , he was imprisoned in the Marshalsea, and after numerous examinations under torture, was hanged and quartered. Beatified in 1886 ; canonized in 1970 .
