The village Keir Silwan is at the foot of the third height of Olivet, at the spot where Solomon built the temples to Chemosh, Ashtoreth, and Milcom; “the mount of corruption,” E. (“before”) of Jerusalem, the shrines being “on the right band,” i.e. S. of the mount called in the Vulgate “the mount of offense” (1Ki 11:7; 2Ki 23:13).
