Spranger, Eduard
(1882) Developed Dilthey’s thought, favoring like him, descriptive instead explanatory psychology. As leading exponent of the Verstehungspsychologie, he postulates ideal types representing ultimate categories of value. These types of personality represent merely “schemata of comprehensibility,” theoretical guides or aids in understanding people. — H.H.
