Swallow up signifies consuming by conquest. To drink up the sea, is a symbol which Schehabeddin, a learned Mussulman doctor, explained to signify, to command all the world; i. e. to get it under one’s power. See Isa 49:19; Jer 51:44; Hos 8:8.
