Tahath
(Heb. Tdchath, , in pause Tachath, , station, i.e. beneath, as often), the name of a place and of three men.
1. (Sept. v.r. ; Vulg. Thahath.) One of the stations of the Israelites in’ the desert between Makheloth and Tarah (Num 33:26); situated apparently not far beyond the western edge of the Arabah nearly opposite Mount Hor. SEE EXODE.
2. (Sept. v.r. ; Vulg. Thahath.) A Kohathite Levite, son of Assir and father of Uriel, or Zephaniah, in the ancestry of Samuel and Heman (1Ch 6:24; 1Ch 6:37 [Heb. 9 and 22]). B.C. cir. 1585.
3. (Sept. v.r. ; Vulg. Thahath.) Son of Bered, and father of Eladah, among the immediate descendants of Ephraim in Palestine (1Ch 7:20). B.C. post 1618. Burrington (General. 1, 273) regards him as the same with Tahan (q.v.) the son of Ephraim; but against the text.
4. (Sept. v.r. ; Vulg. Tahath.) Grandson of the preceding (with whom some confound him), being son of Eladah and father of Zabad (1Ch 7:20). B.C. post 1618.

A stage in Israel’s desert march between Makheloth (Nakhel) and Tarah (Tawarah) (Num 33:26). (“lower or below”.) If a district it is probably the mountain region of the Tyahah Arabs, the jebel et Tih.

Ta’hath. (station).
1. A Kohathite Levite, ancestor of Samue, l and Heman. 1Ch 6:22; 1Ch 6:; 1Ch 9:22. (B.C. about 1415).
2. According to the present text, son of Bered, and great-grandson of Ephraim. 1Ch 7:20. Burrington, however, identifies Tahath with Tahan, the son of Ephraim.
3. Grandson of Tahath, 2, as the text now stands. 1Ch 7:20. But Burrington considers him as a son of Ephraim.
4. The name of a desert station of the Israelites, between Makheloth and Tarah. Num 33:26. The site has not been identified.
