Talmon
(Heb. Talmonn’; , oppressor; Sept. and v..r. , , ; Vulg. Telmon), the head of a family of door-keepers in the Temple, the porters for the camps of the sons of Levi (1Ch 9:17 Neh 11:19). B.C. 1013. Some of his descendants returned with Zerubbabel (Ezr 2:42; Neh 7:45), and were employed in their hereditary office in the days of Nehemiah and Ezra (Neh 12:25), for the proper names in this passage must be considered as the names of families.
