Theophrastus
Theophrastus
(370-287 B.C.), the most important disciple and friend of Aristotle, left voluminous writings of which only fragments are extant; they dealt with many topics of philosophy and science (notably, botany) and defended his master’s philosophy against rival schools of thought, particularly against Stoics.
