“a thought by way of a design” (akin to epinoeo, “to contrive,” epi, intensive, noeo, “to consider”), is used in Act 8:22. In the Sept., Jer 20:10.

“a purpose, device of the mind” (akin to noeo, see No. 1), is rendered “thought” in 2Co 10:5, “thoughts” in Phi 4:7, RV: see DEVICE, No. 2.

“a thought,” occurs in Luk 11:17, where the sense is that of “machinations.”

is translated “thoughts” in Mat 9:4; Mat 12:25; Heb 4:12, see DEVICE, No. 1.
