Transfinite induction

A generalization of the method of proof by mathematical induction or recursion (see recursion, proof by), applicable to a well-ordered class of arbitrary ordinal number — especially one of ordinal number greater than omega (see ordinal number) — in a way similar to that in which mathematical induction is applicable to a well-ordered class of ordinal number omega. — A.C.
