Wave-breast
( ; Sept. or ; A.V. in Exo 29:27, “breast of the wave-offering”) was the breast of the victim offered in sacrifice, a ram (Exo 29:27; Num 6:20), at the consecration of a priest or the purification of a Nazarite after his vow; or of any other animal in thank-offerings (Lev 7:34; Lev 10:14 sq.); or of the first-born-offering (Num 18:18). It was so called because waved by the priest (Exo 29:27; Num 6:20), and belonged to him (Exo 29:27; Lev 7:34), to be eaten by the members of his family who were in a state of ceremonial purity (10:14).
