Carved Work
Carved Work
This was much used in the Temple. “He carved all the walls of the house round about with carved figures of cherubim, and palm-trees, and open flowers.” They were then overlaid with gold. 1Ki 6:18; 1Ki 6:29-35. The Psalmist prophetically laments its being broken down by the enemy with axes and hammers. Psa 74:6. For the ‘carved images’ of idolatry, Jdg 18:18; 2Ch 33:7; 2Ch 33:22; 2Ch 34:3-4, another word is used, which is elsewhere translated ‘graven image.’
