Cover, Covering
kuver, kuver-ing: The translation of several Hebrew words. The covering of the ark (, mikhseh, Gen 8:13) was possibly the lid of a hatchway (compare Mitchell, World before Abraham, 215).
To the sons of Kohath was assigned the task of caring for the furniture of the Tabernacle whenever the camp was moved, a suitable covering (, kasah) of sealskin being designated for each of the specially sacred objects, the temple curtains also being used (Num 4:8, Num 4:9, Num 4:11, Num 4:12).
Num 19:15 (camdh) may refer to anything used as a lid or covering; Job 24:7; Job 31:19 (kesuth) refer to clothing or bed-covering.
Figurative: Abaddon hath no covering; (kesuth) from God (Job 26:6); He will destroy … the face of the covering (ha-lot) that covereth all peoples (Isa 25:7). The removal of the veil, often worn as a token of mourning (compare 2Sa 19:4), signified the destruction of death.

signifies “to cover,” Mat 8:24; Mat 10:26; Luk 8:16; Luk 23:30; Jam 5:20 (RV); 1Pe 4:8; to veil, in 2Co 4:3 (RV; AV, “hid”). See HIDE.

“to cover up or over” (epi, “over”), is used in Rom 4:7, lit., “whose sins are covered over.” Cp. epikalumma, “a cloke,” 1Pe 2:16.
“to cover around” (peri, “around”), e.g., the face, and so, to blindfold, is translated “cover” in Mar 14:65, “blindfold” in Luk 22:64. In Heb 9:4, it signifies “to overlay.” See BLINDFOLD, OVERLAY.
lit., “to cover together;” the sun–, however, is intensive, and the verb signifies “to cover wholly, to cover up,” Luk 12:2.
“to cover up” (kata, intensive), in the Middle Voice, “to cover oneself,” is used in 1Co 11:6-7 (RV, “veiled”).
Note: In 1Co 11:4, “having his head covered” is, lit., “having (something) down the head.”
lit. denotes “something thrown around” (peri, “around,” ballo, “to throw”); hence, “a veil, covering,” 1Co 11:15 (marg.), or “a mantle around the body, a vesture,” Heb 1:12. See CLOTHING, Note (1), VESTURE.
“a covering” (skepazo, “to cover”), strictly, “a roofing,” then, “any kind of shelter or covering,” is used in the plural in 1Ti 6:8 (AV, “rainment;” RV, “covering”).
