Daughter-in-Law
Daughter-In-Law
DAUGHTER-IN-LAW ().The Greek word is presumably derived from the lost root , Lat nubo, to cover, inasmuch as the bride was brought veiled to her bridegroom. Although the word applies to married women in general, its associated idea is that of youth. Hence its antithesis with , the mother-in-law (Mat 10:35, (Luk 12:53). The son usually brought his bride to his fathers house, where she was subject to the fathers wife, as was the son to the father and the daughter to the mother (Mat 10:35, Luk 12:53).
