The Followers of the Faith Are Admonished to Build Themselves Up in Their Faith

"But ye, beloved, building up yourselves on your most holy faith, praying in the Holy Ghost" (Jdg_1:20).

There are two foundations upon which men build. They are described in Mat_7:24-27. One is the sand, the other the rock. The builder upon the rock builds upon what Christ calls, "These sayings of Mine".

Our key verse suggests building, not so much on the Word, as upon our "Most Holy Faith". Today there seems to be a sweeping objection on the part of the liberalists to any "confession of Faith," or, "statement of doctrine." We would like to ask: "How can one contend for the Faith, if he has no concise statement concerning his Faith?" "How can you build yourself up on your Holy Faith, if you have no definite conception of Scripture?"

It is not enough for the believer to state: "I believe in the Word of God." He must state what he believes the Word of God proclaims. The time is come when we need to be positive in our opinions on vital things.

Every believer, every pastor, every denominational teacher, every leader in our churches should assert his doctrine. When believers have an established and asserted Faith, they are ready to build upon it. It is the Faith which apostates deny, which liberalists mock, and for which the faithful contend, that we are to build upon.
