143. Christ’s Death Foretold and Explained

1. Predicted He would die—Isa_53:5.

2. The manner of His death was foretold—Psa_22:16.

3. He said He would die—Joh_10:18.

4. He showed the love of God in dying—Rom_5:8.

5. He died for our sins—Gal_1:4.

6. He died to destroy the Devil’s works—1Jn_3:8.

7. He died that we might live to Him—2Co_5:14, 2Co_5:15.

The determination of His will is seen in His “flint” face of purpose—Isa_1:7, and in that He set His face to go to Jerusalem—Luk_9:51, Luk_9:53, and He was not satisfied till He could say “accomplished.” The word rendered in Joh_19:30, “It is finished,” would be better given “accomplished.”
