The Fellowship of the Holy Spirit–The Command, "Tarry Until"

"Behold, I send the promise of My Father upon you: but tarry ye in the city of Jerusalem, until ye be endued with power from on High" (Luk_24:49).

The third part in "The Benediction," is "The fellowship of the Holy Ghost". The word "fellowship" used here is the same Greek word, as we find in Act_2:44, "And all that believed were together, and had all things common". "Fellowship" and "all things common" present the same thought. Thus the fellowship of the Holy Spirit, is having all things common with the Holy Spirit.

In order that this grace may be ours, we must first realize the importance of the coming of the Spirit. God told the disciples to tarry in Jerusalem until He came.

He did come at Pentecost, and He is here now; but we must recognize His presence.

Too many are seeking to work for souls apart from this holy fellowship. We cannot do His will, alone. The keynote in the Acts of the Apostles, is thus expressed, "The Holy Ghost and us."

It is fatal for any one to dream of missionary work apart from this partnership with the Spirit. Unless this grace is ours we had better stay at home.
