The Fellowship of the Holy Spirit–The Enduement

"Ye shall receive power, after that the Holy Ghost is come upon you" (Act_1:8).

Fellowship with the Holy Spirit means power. Peter could well say "Why look ye so earnestly on us, as though by our own power or holiness we had made this man to walk"?

Of what use is it to have the "love of God", or the "grace of our Lord Jesus Christ"; unless we also have this fellowship of the Holy Spirit? We need to go, and we need to send, but we need to go forth in the demonstration of the Spirit; and we need to know that the one we send is "endued with power Divine."

Surely the Lord has not asked us to go alone. He says: "All power is given Me in Heaven and in earth. Go ye therefore". Go why? Because we have power to back us up as we go.

God has promised that He will not leave us alone, or suffer us to stand in our own weakness.

We are plenipotentiaries of God–sent, but more than sent; sent with and clothed with authority; sent and empowered. The Holy Spirit stands with us, and with Him we have this fellowship, this partnership in the work of God.

"Our blest Redeemer, ere He breathed

His tender, last farewell,

A Guide, a Comforter bequeathed

With us to dwell.

"He came in semblance of a dove,

With sheltering wings outspread.

The holy balm of peace and love

On earth to shed.

"He came in tongues of living flame,

To teach, convince, subdue;

All-powerful as the wind He came–

As viewless too."
