0156. Go! Or God's Command to His Church
Go! Or God’s Command to His Church
"Go ye therefore, and teach all nations, baptizing them in the Name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost" (Mat_28:19).
If we would endeavor to sum up, in one word, God’s call to sinners, we would say "Come."
If we were to sum up, in one word, God’s command to His Church, we would say, "Go."
There are millions of people today who have never heard of a Saviour, and God is saying unto us, "Go ye into all the world" and make disciples. How can we stay at home? How can we refuse to bear testimony while so many are dying?
If we saw a blind man nearing a precipice and in danger of being killed, would we stay silently by and not raise our voice or lend a helping hand?
If we saw a building afire, would we not raise the alarm?
How then can we refuse to obey the voice of God when He tells us to "Go"?
Illustration: A man came to the minister’s house and asked his little girl if her papa was at home. The little darling looked up into the man’s face and she said: "No, my papa is not home, but if you want some one to pray for you, I ‘spect I could do that as well as my papa."
We may not all be able to preach the Gospel; we may not all be able to give largely, but we can all pray, and we can all go, and we can all say something to help people to God.
