166. Christ’s Kingdom

What will be the character of His Kingdom? We need to ponder the whole country of the Old Testament prophecies to answer the question. But if we confine ourselves to the prophecies in Daniel 2 and Daniel 7 we shall find a simple and unmistakable answer.

1. Received Kingdom. “There was given Him dominion, and glory, and a kingdom” (Dan_7:14).

2. Powerful Kingdom. “A stone… smote the image. and brake it in pieces” (Dan_2:34).

3. Victorious Kingdom. “Take away his dominion, to consume and to destroy it unto the end” (Dan_7:26; Dan_8:25).

4. Recognised Kingdom. “Shall serve and obey Him” (Dan_7:27).

5. Universal Kingdom. “Filled the whole earth” (Dan_2:35). “All people, nations, and languages shall serve Him” (Dan_7:14).

6. Lasting Kingdom. “His dominion is an everlasting dominion, which shall not pass away” (Dan_7:14). “An everlasting Kingdom” (Dan_7:27).

7. Set Kingdom. Set as to time as well as to being. “In the days of these kings” (Dan_2:44).
