0199. Samson Wrought a Great Victory
Samson Wrought a Great Victory
"And Samson said, Let me die with the Philistines. And he bowed himself with all his might; and the house fell upon the lords, and upon all the people that were therein. So the dead that he slew in his death were more than all they that he slew in his life" (Jdg_16:30).
The Philistines little dreamed that with Samson’s growing hair, his power was also returning. They saw in Samson only the blinded slave that was a trophy of their own cunning.
The day had arrived for a great sacrifice unto Dagon, their god. They said in their hearts, that Dagon had delivered Samson into their hands, and thus they thought, that by bringing Samson to their festivities, they would do honor to their god, and debase Samson and his God.
With merry hearts they called for Samson to make them sport. Then did Samson cry to God and the Lord heard him. He felt for the pillars, upon which the house rested, and with one last call upon God, he bowed himself in all his might, and yielded up his life that God might be avenged concerning all that the Philistines had done against God’s servant and against His own holy name.
Let no one think that because they have wandered from God that they can never therefore be forgiven and never be restored to the place of power. Peter had sinned, and Peter was forgiven; and Peter was, after his fall, a much more valiant preacher than he ever was before.
Bless God, that there is such a thing as getting back into fellowship, and such a thing as getting back into service.
